Out of curiosity, we bought the MN-90 crawler, very cheap but good looking. The 1/12 Defender 90 was absolutely stunning and within proportion. It came without electronic and all to be built, including gears, shafts internal components, which made the exercise really interesting.
Once the first car was completed, I faced difficulties with the assembly of the second one. The build of the axles just did not work. Too much friction somewhere, the parts did not turn freely. After 2 complete disassembly and re-assembly, it was clear that something was wrong with the components. Chinese quality not always consistent…
No choice but to check how to fix that. After a quick internet browsing, we realise that the MN-90 and related are a little universe on its own ! Literally each single part can be exchanged, improved, replaced. We started to understand that the MN-90 (and successors) were simply a low cost entry product, and that the game (and the business model) was to have it upgraded to your own taste and needs (and budget). That is fun !
