About us…

Average family with nothing big regarding RC cars. Just sharing with you our history of the Rocky (-ies), since it was my only noticeable RC car when I was a teenager. That was… whoa… 25 years ago !

img_2890Recently, young boys now following me, I had the idea to bring back to life the Rocky 4wd. It took me $ 200 of radio / controller / battery and charger pack and that was it.
But the boys always want more, don’t you agree ? So soon the family-owned Rocky was followed by a second one (white painted body) to compete with the other. I am glad it does not share the same paint scheme since we can identify each of them.

I am now into purchasing a third one because, as you know and as it was recently proven by scientist: two is good, three is better.

Why Rocky ? Some would ask: what is that all about when you can get much “better” vintage (or not vintage) scale models to run. Probably at a cheaper price. Of course, because I had one as a teenager, I kept a soft spot for it. But also because, I feel it did -and still does- look great. The general figure is balanced and looks great. It is somewhere between the full racing buggy and the usual RC car. I like that it has 4 identical sized wheels all round, not thin ones front and wide ones rear. I like that it is a 4WD, giving it an amazingly balanced handling at full speed (some reckon it is even boring to drive cause too easy to handle). I like that it is not a racing machine but a hobby RC car

hence performance are just at a level I can reach (we even try to speed it down). I like the chain driven transmission which is nice to see working, if not the most efficient one. It teaches you mechanic as you drive and maintain it. I like the box-chassis, which looks like a car. I like that it is not coming into a full-option top-notch RC buggy package because my kids will have the opportunity to dream about how to make it better as they go along with it: there is so much to do to it !

Because I like to track my stuffs, because information is getting scarce on that RC models, I thought it would not be bad to create a small blog website to log information there and, why not, share with some others.

That’s all about us : three boys of different ages but with each a Rocky at hand ready to have fun.
